Inspired by Playwork Theory, we provide opportunities for self-directed play free from unwarranted adult interference and adult agendas, along with high-quality care for children aged 4 to 14.
Homework support for junior school children
Real play is a process that is freely chosen, personally directed, and intrinsically motivated.
Playful, welcoming and engaging spaces for children to play.
Vital Play is registered with Ofsted and is a, not-for-profit, Community Interest Company.
The club is normally open from 3.15pm until 6.00pm, or 6.30 with an extension, weekdays, during term time. We are based in Archdeacon Cambridge’s Primary School. We collect from the Trafalgar schools and Archdeacon Cambridge’s Primary School, as well as other local schools. Please contact us for more information about which schools we are currently collecting children from. We have access to five rooms, two playgrounds, the nature area, and a large hall.
The children will be supported in their homework and play by a friendly, fun and supportive staff team.
The Nest and Study Zone have their own rooms as we believe that this benefits the children and can help them feel more secure, it does not mean that the children can’t mix. There will be opportunities to do activities together and after tea all the children will be able to use the same playgrounds and rooms if they wish to. This has some clear benefits and is considered good practice.
We provide a cooked meal that is prepared by our kitchen team. We use fresh ingredients and follow statutory guidelines. Fresh drinking water is available at all times. We meet individual dietary requirements and parental preferences wherever possible. We recognise the importance of healthy nutrition for children delivered in a calm, friendly setting. The children all sit together during the meal. The meal will be quite substantial, and we think that most families will find this a suitable main meal for their children.
Our ultimate goal is to create playful, welcoming and engaging spaces in which children can meet their need for self-directed play as an essential component of their success at school, at home, and in their communities.
